A quick guide to choosing the correct sized lampshade

Choosing the right lampshade can be a little daunting especially when you're buying it online. It becomes more of an investment than a quick purchase in a department shop but have you ever wondered which size of shade you should buy? 

There's a very simple guide to follow.

The lampshade should be twice as wide as the lamp base and about one third of the total height of the lamp.

Told you it was simple! 

So for example if your lamp base was 10cm wide you would want to invest in at least a 20cm shade. If the height of your lamp is 50cm you would want to buy at least a 16cm high shade. 

Now this is a guide there will be some exceptions but it should help you feel more confident when choosing the perfect shade.
